'This project ties in with an important trend on the contemporary labour market; namely the increased use of temporary workers. It presents a broad view on issues related to temporary employment, including the specific case of temporary agency workers, the role of HRM and, in particular, training and employability in the context of temporary employment. A particular strength is that the project samples workers from diverse organisations and sectors. The results of this project may inspire the debate among researchers and practitioners alike and is therefore of great value.'

“This project addresses some of the most immediate and important issues in managing temporary employment. As market demands and technological developments change the nature of European organizations, the use of temporary staff in organizations is changing too. It is increasingly seen as a valued element of the strategic labour sourcing mix. Also the nature of its deployment is changing from ad-hoc and reactive to structurally embedded and deliberate.
The proposed research is thus both timely and important, because it extends the findings on consequences of the temporary employment mode to include understandings of the possibilities to Harness and stimulate positive HR outcomes for temporary workers.
Furthermore, the four empirical studies can also be expected to be of practical value, both in terms of the direct outcomes for the companies involved in the project, and in terms of their potential to stimulate further academic and practitioner debate on the issues involved. The issues of managing the double employment relationship, managing the relationship between temporary and permanent contracts, mitigating effects of employment insecurity, and stimulating & savoring engagement all provide the possibility to explore both the unexplored potential and the temporary employment mode.”
